Get acquainted with KCTC member OCD Tech, and their Director of Advisory Services, Jeff Harms
ABOUT OCD TECH
1. Give us your organization’s quick origin story.
OCD Tech was initially established as part of Braintree, Massachusetts based accounting firm, O’Connor & Drew, P.C., one of the most well-respected regional accounting firms in the Northeast. In 2022, due to the large growth of its IT Audit & Security division, OCD Tech separated to become its own legal entity, known as OCD Tech, LLC.
2. What problem are you currently solving in the KC tech industry?
Cybersecurity remains a dynamically changing landscape. There are never enough resources to protect everyone and everything, but we are trying to monitor and educate as much as we can. For example, we receive joint notifications from CISA and FBI (Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC)) & InfraGard to alert us to IT security issues in our community. We also have alerts set up for internet facing infrastructure in the KC area and if the events were severe enough, we would alert the affected company.
3. What can we expect to see from your company/organization in the next year?
Integration and exposure in the Kansas City community. Although OCD Tech is based in Braintree, MA, I live and work in Kansas City, MO. OCD Tech provides services for a large number of clients across the United States, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. We have the research and insight to provide our clients with unmatched service and expertise in IT Audit, cybersecurity, assurance, and advisory services. We are looking for opportunities to assist organizations with identifying their current state of information security, and then working side by side to enhance the level of security.
4. How can KCTC members get more involved?
Communicate. Breaking out of our comfort zone and collaborate with organizations and providers on topics we do not know enough about. We have participated in the Access Granted program, which was a fantastic way to present our unique services to local industry leaders and receive valuable feedback. We are all looking to improve our products and services, and working together to strengthen our offerings provides the customer with the best service possible.
